I wrote this the day my mom told me she was just starting to feel like herself again after a long, but successful battle against breast cancer!

SURVIVOR’S SONG


A tiny bloom becomes a flower burst ,rising through the earth
Reaching to the sun’s warmth, the petals thrive and flourish


Once I was broken, shattered and hurt
Something deep inside me caused my heart to stir
I shed my battered body and let go of the pain
Now I have awoken to dance this earth again


I’m runnin’ through, breakin’ through, comin’ through
I’m runnin’ through, breakin’ through, comin’ through just fine


I was forced to wander and unknown path alone
Found a strength within me, I’d not before this known
Now my life is sweeter, my cup is filled with wine
A lustrous light surrounds me and I’m comin’ through just fine
