When You Go

During 2004, my family was dealing with cancer, and I found myself flying back and forth between cities. The saying goodbye when I left either of my friends and family became the hardest. I just wanted to write a song that would help me live in the moment, for that is all we really have.
WHEN YOU GO
Put your hand on my heart
Can you feel the rhythm slow
Take it away with you
Take it with you when you go, when you go
When I watch you walk away
I feel the pain deep in my soul
It’s as if I’ll never again see you face
Never again see you face when you go, when you go
CHORUS
CAN WE MAKE THIS MOMENT LAST
UNTIL WE’RE TOGETHER AGAIN
TAKE THIS BURDEN FROM MY CHEST
SAY THAT THE FEELING WILL REMAIN WHEN YOU GO
LEAD MUSIC*
If you believe in this fortune
Is all I really need to know
The look in your eyes, the smile on your lips
Will help me keep the faith when you go
It’s hard to strike a perfect balance
Hard to walk a thin line
I tremble at the thought of losing this union
Of heart and soul and mind when you go
CHORUS
Put your hand on my heart, take it with you when you go
