Venitia Sekema: Tunes

La Bonita

No matter what side of the "fence" you're on, the tragedy occurs everyday. I wrote this song in 2005 after the news report of an abandonded, locked box truck was found in California with dozens of people inside that had perishied in the hot summer sun.
LA BONITA

She’s moving through the night
No time to rest along the way
No water for her thirst, her life, her breath
For this, she will pay

CHORUS
PRETTY ONE, YOUR MOTHER CRIES FOR YOU
PRETTY ONE, YOUR FATHER PRAYS FOR YOU
LA BONITA SO FAR FROM HOME
LA BONITA HOW FAR WILL YOU RUN

Left her home and family
To have a better life across the sand
Her hopes on fire, what will be will be
In the promised land

CHORUS

With each hill she climbs
Prays that she will see the city’s glow
But then the thorn did cut
The blossoms sweet life force, and there it flowed

CHORUS
